DISC HONORED FOR THE 8TH TIME AS “BEST OF THE BEST WORKPLACE” FROM THE PIA
HAUPPAUGE, NEW YORK [December 20, 2016] – DISC, a leading source of specialty packaging solutions for more than 40 years, has again been selected as one of the “Best of the Best Workplaces in the Americas” in the 2016 competition created by the Printing Industries of America (PIA). This marks the 8th win in the past nine years and the 14th time in the 15-year history of the competition that DISC has been selected as one of a small group of exceptional companies in the U.S. and Canada to receive this honor.
“It is wonderful to be recognized with this prestigious honor once again,” said DISC President Margaret Krumholz. “Our mission is to create a working environment and culture that supports employee development and organizational excellence. Our human resources team, lead by Diane Ferrante, engages with employees to make sure our managers fulfill this mission and are dedicated to assuring our continued success.”
The Printing Industries of America is the world’s largest graphic arts trade association. Its annual competition is open to printing and packaging member companies that consistently demonstrate that they care about creating a work environment in which employees can balance their personal goals and ambitions with those of the company. A panel of HR professionals, with decades of experience in the industry, reviews the submissions. Judging is based on eight criteria: Management Practices; Work Environment; Training and Development Opportunities; Financial Security; Workplace Health and Safety; Work-Life Balance; Recognition and Rewards; and Health and Wellness Programs.
According to Diane Ferrante, DISC’s director of human resources, “Our programs are a reflection of the core values DISC’s leadership team has instilled in the organization. By allocating resources to development and training, and formally recognizing employee accomplishments, we see a return on this investment through employee commitment to quality, service, and the success of the company. This commitment transcends the organization to include community service initiatives. This year one employee led a large-scale effort to collect food and raise money for the homeless. While it is nice to be recognized, it is more rewarding to see the actual positive results that come from our combined efforts.”
