Creating Reality 2013 Calendar

Create a non-retail self-promotional calendar designed to showcase the imagery of eight masters of the art of Photorealism, while embodying a selection of special finishes used to accentuate the look and feel of the art. It amplifies the strong images of the photorealist paintings reproduced on its pages to deliver an almost photographic view of the world that dazzles the senses at the same time.

The Louis K. Meisel Gallery in New York City provided images of the paintings of eight renowned masters of this genre: Charles Bell, Anthony Brunelli, Davis Cone, Robert Gniewek, Ralph Goings, Don Jacot, Ron Kleeman, and Ben Schonzeit. An outsized, wire-o bound calendar structural design that opened vertically was used to best effect. Photographs of each image appeared on individual month pages as well as on the production notes pages. The calendar was printed and finished using a combination of techniques to bring the images to life. Both 4-color process offset and 6-color Hexachrome™ printing were used. Finishing treatments included: cold foil stamping; inline soft touch coating (applied around the calendar grids for each month); reticulating varnish and UV coating techniques; offline gloss screen UV; grit coating; and sculptured embossing.
